Questions

About personal banking at Viscount

Which card scheme is the debit card on?
Verve, Nigeria's domestic card scheme operated by Interswitch. It works at every ATM and POS terminal in Nigeria and for online payments with Nigerian merchants. Contactless is supported at terminals that accept it.
Is there a minimum balance or monthly fee?
No. Personal current accounts open with ₦0, have no minimum balance and no monthly maintenance fee. Interbank transfer charges follow the CBN's regulated tariff and are shown before you confirm.
What is the difference between a pocket and a savings plan?
A pocket is flexible: no lock-in, no interest, money can move back at any time. A savings plan such as Viscount Boost is locked for a set period and earns interest, with a penalty if you break it early. Use pockets for money you'll need soon and plans for money you can leave alone.
Can I receive my salary into this account?
Yes. Your NUBAN works like any other Nigerian account number and appears as Viscount Microfinance Bank in your employer's transfer screen. Regular salary inflows also count towards overdraft and loan eligibility.
Is a microfinance bank account as safe as a commercial bank account?
Viscount is licensed and supervised by the Central Bank of Nigeria and deposits are insured by the NDIC under the same scheme that covers commercial banks.
