Pay everyone on the 25th, in one run

Salaries, contractors, suppliers, commissions, refunds. Upload the list once, an approver signs it off once, and every person on it is paid to any Nigerian bank with a single reference on your statement. Built for the business that has stopped paying people one transfer at a time.

How a run works

Four steps, two people, one reference

A run always involves at least two people: the initiator who prepares it and the approver who signs it off. That separation is what makes it safe to pay forty people at once.

1

Prepare the list

Upload a spreadsheet or CSV with name, bank, account number and amount, or copy last month's run and edit what changed. Save it as a template for next time.

2

Every account is name-checked

Each account number is verified against the receiving bank and the account name shown beside it. Mismatches are flagged in red and the run cannot proceed until they are fixed or removed.

3

An approver signs it off

The approver sees the full list, the total, the fees, and the balance after the run. Above your second-approval threshold, two approvers are required. Approval is with a PIN and second factor.

4

It runs, and reports back

Every item is paid, with one batch reference on your statement and a per-item breakdown underneath. Anything that fails retries automatically, and you see exactly which items and why.

What the approver sees

Nothing leaves until a second person has read the list

The initiator prepares; the approver decides. The approver sees every line, every verified name, every fee, and the balance the account will be left with. If one line is wrong, the whole run waits.

  • Name verification on every lineThe account name returned by the receiving bank is shown beside the name you uploaded. A typo never pays the wrong person.
  • One or two approvers, by amountRuns above the threshold you set need two approvals. Neither approver can be the initiator.
  • Schedule it, or run it nowApprove today for a run on the 25th, and it goes at the time you set. Your transaction rules, including business-hours and weekend blocks, still apply.
  • Under your capsA run counts against the daily cap and the approver's limits like any other payment. It cannot be used to route around them.
What you can pay in bulk

Anyone with a Nigerian bank account

A bulk run is any list of payments approved together. Payroll is the most common, but far from the only one.

Salaries and allowances

Monthly payroll, mid-month advances, transport and housing allowances, thirteenth month.

Contractors and casual staff

Site workers, drivers, agents and freelancers paid weekly or per job, from a list that changes every time.

Suppliers and vendors

Settle a month's invoices in one approved run instead of thirty separate transfers, each with its own approval.

Commissions and incentives

Sales commissions, agent payouts and referral bonuses computed elsewhere and paid here from an upload.

Refunds and disbursements

Customer refunds, cooperative payouts, grant and stipend disbursements to members or beneficiaries.

Schools, associations, cooperatives

Teacher salaries, member payouts and welfare disbursements, approved by the officers your constitution names.

Records your accountant and auditors will accept

A bulk run produces one line on the statement and a full breakdown beneath it. Everything an audit needs is already there.

  • One reference, itemisedThe batch reference on your statement opens to every item: payee, bank, amount, fee, status and the NIBSS session ID for interbank items.
  • Who did what, whenPrepared by, approved by, scheduled for, executed at. Every change to the list before approval is logged too.
  • Exports that load straight inCSV and spreadsheet exports per run or per period, laid out for the accounting packages Nigerian firms actually use.
  • Failures explained, not hiddenIf a receiving bank is down, the item retries on its own. If an account is closed, it is marked failed with the reason and the money stays in your balance.
Fees and the rules we follow

Priced per item, governed by the CBN

A bulk run is a set of individual transfers, and each is charged and regulated as one.

  • Interbank items at the CBN tariffTransfers to other banks carry the charge set out in the CBN's Guide to Charges, plus VAT, shown per item and totalled before approval.
  • Viscount-to-Viscount items freeStaff and suppliers who bank with Viscount are paid at no charge, instantly, at any hour.
  • NIBSS Instant PaymentInterbank items travel on the NIBSS network with a session ID each, the same rail as any single transfer.
  • KYC and anti-money-launderingBulk payments are monitored under the CBN's AML rules like any other outflow. Unusually large or unusual runs may be held for a check; this is a licence obligation, not a judgement about you.
  • A regulated bank behind itViscount is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and your balance is insured by the NDIC. Payroll runs from an insured account at a supervised bank, not from a wallet.
Questions

About payroll and bulk payments

Is there a limit on how many people I can pay in one run?
A run can be as long as your list. Very large runs are processed in batches behind the scenes, but you approve once and see one reference. The only limits are your own daily cap and approver limits, which a run counts against like any other payment.
Can staff who bank elsewhere be paid?
Yes, to any Nigerian bank account over NIBSS Instant Payment. Interbank items carry the CBN-regulated charge plus VAT, shown per item before approval. Items to Viscount accounts are free.
What happens if one item fails?
The rest of the run is unaffected. A temporary failure, such as a receiving bank being offline, retries automatically without going back for approval. A permanent failure, such as a closed account, is marked with the reason and the money stays in your balance for you to correct and re-send.
Can the initiator also approve?
No. The person who prepares a run cannot approve it, and where two approvals are required they must come from two different approvers. This is enforced by the system, not by policy.
Can I schedule a run for a future date?
Yes. Approve it now and set the date and time. It runs then, subject to your transaction rules, and you are notified when it completes. You can cancel a scheduled run any time before it starts.
Does Viscount calculate PAYE, pensions or payslips?
No. Viscount pays the net amounts on the list you upload. Payroll calculation, statutory deductions and payslips are done in your payroll or HR software, and the output of that is what you upload here.
